THE provincial government of Camarines Sur has declared President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. as an adopted son of the province on Thursday, March 16, 2023.

During the President’s visit to the province for a series of events, including the launch of Kadiwa ng Pangulo in the region and the groundbreaking ceremony of a housing project in Naga City, Camarines Sur Governor Luigi Villafuerte declared Marcos as an adopted son of the province, in recognition of his contributions to its people, particularly during times of calamities.

“That is why for all that you have done for the province of Camarines Sur, as a way of expressing our everlasting gratitude for all that you have done, please allow me to present to you the resolution by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Camarines Sur, declaring you, Mr. President, as the adopted son of Camarines Sur,” Villafuerte said.

“Mga kapatid, gusto ko pong ipaalala sa inyo na kung hindi po kay dating Senador Bongbong Marcos na ngayon ang Pangulo ng ating bansa, nahati na po ang ating probinsya. Siya lang po ang kaisa-isang senador noon na nakipaglaban, nanindigan, para hindi mahati ang Camarines Sur,” he added.

(My siblings, I would like to remind you that if it were not for former Senator Bongbong Marcos, who is now the President of our country, our province would have already been divided. He was the only senator back then who fought and stood firm to prevent Camarines Sur from being divided.)

Camarines Sur is the home province of former Vice President Leni Robredo, who was Marcos’ closest political rival during the 2016 and 2022 national elections. (SunStar Philippines)
