FOR the first time in nearly two months, the number of new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases reported daily over the past seven days has dropped below the 1,000 mark, the Department of Health (DOH) reported.

In its case bulletin, there is an average of 813 cases daily for December 19 to 25, 2022.

“This is 25 percent lower than cases reported from December 12 to 18,” said the DOH.

In its November 7 case bulletin, the DOH said the country has an average of 907 cases daily for October 31 to November 6.

The last seven days recorded a total of 5,690 Covid-19 cases.

There were three additional severe and critical cases during the past week, while there were 172 deaths reported over the past seven days.

Meanwhile, the DOH reported that there are 516 severe and critical cases in the country as of December 25.

Of the total severe and critical cases, the report showed that 451 of them are occupying intensive care unit (ICU) beds.

The number of occupied ICU beds account for the 19.1 percent of the 2,367 total nationwide.

There are also 3,324 Covid-19 patients occupying Covid-19 beds. This is 17.6 percent of the 18,935 total Covid-19 beds allocated nationwide. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
