OUT of the 43 police personnel of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) included on the drugs watchlist, 31 tested negative in a surprise drug test.

On January 12, NCRPO Director Major General Jonnel Estomo called for a dialogue with the 43 police personnel included on the drugs watchlist.

Only 31 heeded Estomo’s call and all of them tested negative for drug use while the status of the 12 other cops is still under verification.

Estomo challenged cops who were named under the watchlist to clear up their names and give way to thorough investigation.

He gave a month-long period for the adjudication board to validate and submit reports and recommendations based on the findings.

“This is part of NCRPO’s determined proactive approach to cleanse its ranks and give opportunity to innocent cops to clear their names off the list and continue with their service to the people,” said Estomo.

“I’m giving you one month para maayos ito. Kung involved sila, kasuhan natin. Kung hindi, i-clear natin,” he added.

(I am giving you a month to fix this. If they are involved, we will file a case. If not, we will clear them.)

Estomo also conducted an unannounced visit to various police stations in Metro Manila for the conduct of surprise drug tests. (SunStar Philippines)
