THREE individuals died due to the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Florita, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Thursday, August 25, 2022.In its situational report, the NDRRMC said the two fatalities in Cagayan and Cordillera were confirmed, while another death from Bicol region is still being validated.It said four individuals were also reported injured due to the effects of the weather disturbance, in which three were in Cagayan and one from Bicol region.Severe Tropical Storm Florita severely affected northern Luzon, while the southwest monsoon, which it enhanced, affected Southern Luzon, particularly Bicol.The disaster bureau said 11,953 families or 47,169 individuals were affected by the bad weather in Region 1 (Ilocos), Region 2 (Cagayan), Region 4A (Calabarzon), Cordillera and the National Capital Region.About 1,726 families or 6,623 individuals have been displaced and currently staying in evacuation centers, while 1,062 families or 3,732 individuals have been staying with their relatives.The NDRRMC said several roads in the affected region remain to be impassable due to the onslaught of Florita, which causes flooding and landslides.Thirty houses incurred minor to major damage from the storm.The NDRRMC said P4,856,078.48 worth of assistance, including family and hygiene kits, family food packs, relief assistance family tents and burial assistance, have been provided to the affected population.Florita exited the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday morning, August 24, 2022.
