TEN individuals were injured following an explosion in a fireworks factory in Sta. Maria, Bulacan on Thursday afternoon, November 3, 2022.

Sta. Maria chief of police Lieutenant Colonel Christian Alucod said eight of the injured persons were workers of the factory, which is situated in a residential area in Sitio Manggahan, Barangay Pulong Buhangin.

He said all of the ten sustained only minor injuries from the explosion that happened around 1:45 p.m.

Alucod said based on their initial investigation, the factory does not have the necessary permit to operate.

“Dapat ‘yung pagawaan malayo-layo ‘yan sa community. Sa basic assessment natin, walang permit ito,” he said.

(That factory should be far away from the community. Based on our basic assessment, it has no permit.)

Investigation as to the cause of the explosion is still ongoing. (SunStar Philippines)
