United States presidential election 2024

The outcome of the 2024 presidential election, with either or being elected as the 47th President of the United States, is likely to hinge on several key states: Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, Arizona, Wisconsin, and Nevada. Both candidates are vying to secure the necessary 270 electoral votes, representing a simple majority, in the Electoral College.

As voters across the country cast their ballots on Tuesday, November 5th, the Associated Press will “call” states based on its Decision Team’s rigorous vote count. It’s possible that the overall winner might not be clear on Election Night and could even take days or weeks to be determined, depending on the closeness of the vote margins.

The map below, which will update automatically as states are called by the AP, shows the current status of the race.
