A Florida resident, Michael W. Wiseman, was taken into custody on Friday after being accused of making threats against former President Donald Trump and U.S. Senator JD Vance, as well as their families, on social media platforms. The Jupiter Police Department announced Wiseman’s arrest, citing charges of making written threats to kill.
Jupiter Police Major Don Hennessy stated that Wiseman was apprehended without incident and subsequently placed in Palm Beach County Jail. As of Friday night, Wiseman remained in custody at the facility, according to a jail employee who confirmed the information. However, the employee indicated they had no knowledge regarding whether Wiseman had secured legal representation.
Investigators revealed that Wiseman had posted multiple written threats targeting Trump and Vance on Facebook. These threats were made after Trump and Vance were officially nominated as the Republican presidential and vice presidential candidates, respectively, earlier this week. Additionally, the threats extended to the well-being of members of the Trump and Vance families, as reported by police.
Several individuals alerted local law enforcement officials about Wiseman’s social media posts, both in person and online.
Jupiter is located approximately 20 miles (32 kilometers) north of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach.
The investigation was carried out in conjunction with the U.S. Secret Service and the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office, as confirmed by police.
