Modern Logistics launches Amazonas Conectado to address the severe drought impacting the Amazon region.

NEW YORK, Feb. 8, 2025 — Modern Logistics is launching Amazonas Conectado, a logistics initiative to mitigate the effects of the Amazon’s record drought on shippers. This unprecedented drought has severely disrupted river cargo transport, isolating communities and negatively affecting businesses. Responding to the increased demand for alternative solutions, São Paulo-based Modern Logistics (ML), South America’s first integrated logistics company, is stepping in.

A leading logistics provider in the Amazon, Modern Logistics leverages its integrated platform to help clients overcome the drought’s challenges. As a key player in the Manaus Industrial Hub, the company is expanding its operations within the free-trade zone. A crucial element is its SEA-AIR service, transferring imports from various Brazilian ports to Manaus and then distributing them using its fleet of 737s and a chartered 747. ML also utilizes its extensive warehouse network and road infrastructure across Brazil, including a large warehouse in Manaus. This multi-modal approach efficiently handles diverse cargo, from perishable and high-value goods to sensitive and hazardous materials, including pharmaceuticals, significantly reducing reliance on river transport.

Modern Logistics provides rapid air delivery, often within 24 hours of shipment, while also offering competitive conventional air and road services. Despite reduced river capacity, ML has expanded its road operations, maintaining its high service standards.

According to CEO Cristiano Koga, these solutions offer efficiency without excessive financial burden. He emphasizes that the added costs are minimal compared to the benefits of uninterrupted logistics, both for businesses and the region’s socioeconomic well-being. He highlights the use of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to streamline operations, optimize resource use, cut costs, and meet deadlines. Koga also stresses Modern Logistics’ commitment to information security, employing robust data protection, encryption, and access controls.
